The Itochu Enex Group complies with the ISO 14001 international standard for environmental management systems and implements the standard in every aspect of environmental management system development and operation.

Environmental Management Systems and ISO 14001

Itochu Enex has developed and implemented environmental management systems taking as a framework the ISO 14001 international standard, under which we obtained certification in 2000.

Responsibility as a Specified Shipper

Itochu Enex has been designated as a specified shipper under the revised Law Concerning the Rational Use of Energy. In compliance with the law, since fiscal 2008 we have submitted an annual report on our energy conservation plans and performance to the responsible cabinet minister and have formulated and implemented specific CO₂ emissions reduction measures with the aim of reducing energy consumption per unit of output by 1% or more per year on a medium- to long-term basis.

Highly energy-efficient glass top cooking ranges and high-efficiency water heaters that offer excellent energy conservation characteristics
Promotion of clean-exhaust LPG vehicles and auto gas stations

Participation in Technology Development That Contributes to CO₂ Reduction

Group company Enex Clean Power Energy Co., Ltd. and Shimamura Precision Co., Ltd. have jointly developed the "hybrid + bi-fuel Prius ," which can use both gasoline and LP gas as fuel and has half the CO₂ emissions of gasoline-powered cars.

Joint Action that Contributes to CO₂ Reduction

In collaboration with other companies in the industry, the Itochu Enex Group is developing a transportation network and endeavoring to use more efficient trucks and use trucks more efficiently.
Since fiscal 2004 we have participated in the CO₂ Diet Declaration, a project organized by the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and other organizations.
We participate in the Team Minus 6%(This link takes you to our Japanese site) project.

Involvement in Eco Energy

At Itochu Enex, the Total-Life Division plays a central role in the sale of photovoltaic power generation systems and ENEFARM, the development of infrastructure for electric vehicles, the development of HEMS (home energy management system), and the promotion of eco energy.
