ITOCHU ENEX Announces a Shift to 100% Green Energy

ITOCHU ENEX CO., LTD. (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Kenji Okada, Representative Director, President & CEO) announced today that it shifted to using 100% green energy starting April 1.

The Kasumigaseki Building, where ITOCHU ENEX has its headquarters, is an office building leased by Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Mitsui Fudosan"), and power for the building is supplied by Mitsui Fudosan.
Following the start of services by Mitsui Fudosan offering green electricity (Post-FIT (Feed in Tariff) solar power and other energy with environmental value that is truly renewable) to tenants in collaboration with TEPCO Energy Partner, Inc., ITOCHU ENEX and its Group companies (see *1 below) that are tenants in the Kasumigaseki Building began using this service and shifted to green energy.

Green Energy Procurement

Under its corporate philosophy, "The Best Partner for Life and Society - with Energy, with the Car, with the Home -," the Group has set the reduction of its environmental footprint as one of its environment policies in order to realize a better global environment and harmonious coexistence with society. Through making the energy at its headquarters green, ITOCHU ENEX will reach a 8 to 10% reduction in CO2 emissions through the company's power usage (including non-consolidated offices). They also hope to promote green energy usage in offices that are not a part of the headquarters.

ITOCHU ENEX and Mitsui Fudosan are promoting the creation of sustainable cities and communities by creating a platform for industry and technological innovation and by taking concrete measures towards green energy and against climate change, both goals of the SDGs, by shifting energy used in business activities to green energy.

ITOCHU ENEX recognizes that reducing CO2 from the Group's business activities is a major issue as the world aims for a decarbonized society with the enactment of the 2015 Paris Agreement, the SDGs (the UN's Sustainable Development Goals) for 2030, and governmental carbon neutral targets for 2050. Going forward, the Group will continue to contribute to better lifestyles and a sustainable society through businesses tailored to the new era that help address social issues.
