2021 Japan Packaging Competition for a 5-Liter Container for AdBlue® High-
Grade Aqueous Urea
ITOCHU ENEX Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Kenji Okada, President & Chief Executive Officer; hereinafter "ITOCHU ENEX") announced today that its 5-liter container for AdBlue® received the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award (in two categories), the highest award, at the 2021 Japan Packaging Competition (hereinafter, "JPC") that was hosted by the Japan Federation of Printing Industries.
In JPC, packages that have been commercialized and sold compete on excellence. Held for the 60th time this year, it is a time-honored competition. In this competition, the 5-liter container for AdBlue® from ITOCHU ENEX won the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award, the highest award, earning recognition as "the most excellent container with special considerations for safety, recyclability, and environmental friendliness, among other elements."
The AdBlue® high-grade aqueous urea is an environmental product, which is sprayed into exhaust gas from diesel engines to detoxify nitrogen oxide (NOx). It is used for trucks, buses, and many other diesel-powered vehicles. Recent years have seen an increasing number of cases where AdBlue® is used for regular passenger cars, including imported diesel-powered vehicles. In response, a new 5-liter container was developed with cooperation from Kyodo Printing Co., Ltd. The new container features the use of 60% less plastics than the previous polyester one. ITOCHU ENEX believes that its environmental performance, including the above, together with its design, were highly evaluated.
