Selected for the First Time to be a Constituent of the MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index and Attains the Highest “AAA” MSCI ESG Rating
ITOCHU ENEX CO., LTD. (Headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Tomofumi Yoshida, Representative Director, President and CEO; hereinafter “ITOCHU ENEX”) has been selected as a constituent of the MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index (hereinafter “the Index”), a leading ESG investment index adopted by the Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF) of Japan, one of the largest institutional investors in the world. ITOCHU ENEX, which has since 2021 consistently received an “AA” rating in the MSCI ESG Ratings, has now been awarded the highest rank of “AAA” for the first time, in recognition of its strong performance in corporate governance and climate change initiatives.
The Index is built by selecting companies with a strong ESG performance from the list of companies in its parent index, the MSCI Japan IMI Top 700 Index, which consists of the top 700 securities in terms of market capitalization, with a target market capitalization of 50% for each sector category in the parent index. Currently, 239 domestic companies have been selected for the Index.
As outlined in “ENEX2030: To Create Driving Force of Life,” its medium-term business plan, the ITOCHU ENEX Group will strive to achieve further growth and transformation through the provision of a range of energy and services for industry and people’s lives.
