Commencing demonstration experiment of support to "visualize" greenhouse gas emissions ～Business partnership agreement with Bank of Yokohama and Zeroboard～
ITOCHU ENEX CO., LTD. (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Kenji Okada, Representative Director, President and CEO; hereinafter, "the Company") announced today a business partnership agreement on proof of concept of decarbonization management solutions (hereinafter, "the Agreement") with The Bank of Yokohama, Ltd. (headquartered in Yokohama-shi, Kanagawa; Yasuyoshi Oya, Representative Director, President; hereinafter, "Bank of Yokohama") and Zeroboard Inc. (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Michitaka Tokeiji, Representative Director; hereinafter, "Zeroboard") (hereinafter jointly referred to as "the three companies") with the aim of supporting our clients' decarbonization management.
As action to fight climate change has become a global task, we are accelerating initiatives to reduce emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases (hereinafter, "GHG"). The first step for a company is to visualize those GHG emissions, so the Company needs to get a quantitative grasp of the environmental load that our activities and the economic activities of all our supply chains have. However, many companies are faced with the challenge of a heavy workload to visualize the GHG emissions of not only their own company but also the supply chains.
As part of this demonstration experiment, Mitsuba Corporation, Kudo Corporation, and Tokyo Cosmos Electric Co., Ltd., who are clients of Bank of Yokohama, will trial the GHG estimation and visualization cloud service zeroboard that was developed by Zeroboard with estimation support from the Company, thereby visualizing their GHG emissions. By visualizing their GHG emissions and sharing that with the three companies, we will gain clues to how such data can be used in various reports that need to report GHG emissions and how to propose various solutions for reducing GHG emissions.
The three companies will build on the results of the demonstration experiment to looking into services to support corporate decarbonization management, including a full-scale rollout of our GHG emission visualization support.
The Company will use its strength that is a broad industrial network across Japan to seek to become an environmental solution provider that can support CO2 emission estimation, propose solutions for visualization and reduction, and provide comprehensive packages for environmental value. We will also contribute to the creation of a carbon-neutral society based on our corporate philosophy "the best partner for life and society."
