ITOCHU ENEX Introduces TERASEL Solar, a Self-consumption Solar Power Generation Service, at the Asphalt Mixture Plant of Watanabe Sato Co., Ltd.
ITOCHU ENEX CO., LTD. (Headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Kenji Okada, Representative Director, President and CEO; hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) announces that it has introduced its self-consumption solar power generation service, TERASEL Solar, at the asphalt mixture plant of Watanabe Sato Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Naotaka Ishii, President; hereinafter “Watanabe Sato”).
This fixed-fee service installs solar power generation equipment on the rooftops of plants, warehouses, and other facilities to enable customers to consume the electricity they have generated themselves. In the current situation with every company being required to take environmental measures with the goal of establishing a carbon-free society by 2050, this business model enables customers to reduce CO2 emissions and energy costs through the consumption of eco-friendly electricity they have generated themselves from renewable energy sources.
The Company has introduced TERASEL Solar, a service to generate solar power for own consumption, to the Yokohama asphalt mixture plant (Yokohama Ascon Consortium) operated by Watanabe Sato as a consortium. The power consumption of this plant is expected to be reduced by approximately 7% and CO2 emissions are projected to decrease approximately 48 tons (both are annual averages) from the levels prior to the introduction. Watanabe Sato is working to reduce its environmental footprint, based on its environmental policy. This plant, in particular, uses city gas that utilizes carbon neutral LNG in the production of heated asphalt mixture, while also generating solar power for its own consumption. The plant is bolstering its environmental measures by further reducing CO2 emissions.
The Company will further strengthen its ties with Watanabe Sato through this service, contributing to the creation of a sustainable society by continuing to provide a range of environmental products centered on the self-consumption solar power generation service, TERASEL Solar.
