— Beginning the Sale of Environmentally-friendly Gas to Contribute to Sustainable Local Communities —
ITOCHU ENEX CO.,LTD. (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Kenji Okada, Representative Director, President & CEO) announced today that through the Company and the Home-Life Division Group companies it will start dealing in carbon-neutral LP gas ("CN-LP gas")1 nationwide in October.
To expand its foundation for dealing in CN-LP gas, ITOCHU ENEX identifies the most appropriate combination of CN-LP gas handled by each wholesale company for sale according to the needs of the dealers and LP gas users. Additionally, we are adopting it for use by the Group companies to contribute to the reduction of the environmental burdens caused by the use of LP gas.
Through these initiatives, the Home-Life Division Group will contribute to greenhouse gas reduction on a global scale and to the sustainability of local communities by targeting the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): 7. Affordable and clean energy; 11. Sustainable cities and communities; and 13. Climate action.
1 CN-LP gas is LP gas for which the greenhouse gases emitted during the processes from mining to burning have been offset using carbon credits (voluntary credits) certified by the private sector overseas.
