ITOCHU ENEX Announces Start of Use of GTL Fuel in Asphalt Plant of Large Road Company

ITOCHU ENEX CO., LTD. (Headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Kenji Okada, Representative Director, President and CEO; hereinafter "ITOCHU ENEX") announced that Gaeart Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Kenji Yamamoto, CEO; hereinafter "Gaeart") had commenced using the GTL fuel sold by ITOCHU ENEX in the dryer1 of an asphalt plant at the Toyokawa Mixture Factory operated by Gaeart in Toyokawa-shi, Aichi Prefecture. This is the first use of this fuel in Japan.2

The use of the GTL fuel, which, practically, is low sulfur and low aromatic content, in the active dryer of an asphalt plant is expected to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxide (NOx), sulfur oxide (SOx) and particulate matter (PM, including dust and soot) emissions from combustion.

Gaeart carries out a variety of environmental actions with the goal of establishing an environment that is in harmony with both people and nature as stated in its management message. As part of these actions, it recently made the decision to introduce the GTL fuel.
