ITOCHU ENEX Announces the Use of Renewable Diesel for the Power Generation Equipment for Racing Used by TEAM IMPUL

ITOCHU ENEX CO.,LTD. (Headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Kenji Okada, Representative Director, President and CEO) announced that it has delivered Renewable Diesel (hereinafter, "RD") for the power generation equipment, the power source for transporters, pit lighting, etc., used by carenex TEAM IMPUL (hereinafter, "TEAM IMPUL") who we sponsor at the first and second SUPER FORMULA races of the season to be held at Fuji International Speedway on April 9 and 10, 2022. This was the first time that RD was used in power generation equipment in a race event in Japan.

RD is produced by using waste oil and animal oil, which do not have competitor foods, as raw materials and realizes a maximum 90% reduction of GHG emissions compared with the petroleum-based light oil on a life-cycle assessment basis. It is mainly used for trucks and buses, etc. for transportation as a so-called "drop-in" fuel and allows use of existing vehicles and refueling facilities without modification. It has already been widely distributed, mainly in the US and Europe.

Together with TEAM IMPUL, we plan to use RD at all races. Through this initiative, we will contribute to the achievement of circular economy and carbon-free society.
