ITOCHU ENEX Promotes Use of Renewable Diesel for the Construction related to World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan – Aiming to reduce CO2 emissions by replacing diesel oil with renewable diesel –

ITOCHU ENEX CO., LTD. (Headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Tomofumi Yoshida, Representative Director, President and CEO; hereafter, “The Company”) announces that renewable diesel (hereinafter "RD") will be used for the construction work related to World Exposition 2025 (hereinafter "the Expo") in collaboration with TAKENAKA CORPORATION (Headquartered in Osaka-shi, Osaka; Masato Sasaki, President; hereinafter "Takenaka").

This initiative aims to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by switching the fuel used for construction machineries and other equipment from diesel oil to RD in the Expo-related construction work that Takenaka has been doing since April 2023. The RD will be imported and procured by ITOCHU Corporation (Headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Keita Ishii, President and COO) from Neste OYJ (Headquartered in Finland; Matti Lehmus, President and CEO; hereinafter "Neste"), the world's largest renewable fuel manufacturer, and the Company will distribute it in Japan.

Neste's RD is produced from 100% renewable raw materials such as cooking oil waste and animal fat waste. The RD helps reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by up to 90% when emissions over the fuel's life cycle are compared with fossil diesel. The RD is a “drop-in” fuel, not requiring any modifications to the existing vehicles or fuel distribution infrastructures. Its use is expected to grow in the future.

Under its corporate philosophy, "The Best Partner for Life and Society," The Company will continue to popularize products and services that reduce environmental burdens and contribute to a sustainable society going forward, while simultaneously offering a reliable supply of energy as an energy company.
